Fritz & Kristina come to visit

We had great weather and all got sunburned because it was the first sun of the season.
Kristina drove her new camper VW for them to stay in.

A warm fire and then a great Salmon Dinner

We are headed north through Wyoming then west into Montana. We have spent the last two nights in truck stops. I have started driving so pictures aren't available, plus Wyoming is not photographic like where we have been.

Lathrop State Park near Walsenburg

We lucked out and found a great campground with beautiful views, sunshine, lakes, and bike paths. We have been biking and are going kayaking. Tonight Fritz and Kristina will join us here.

The Great Sand Dunes - April 25, 07

Our goal since we headed out this spring was to see and stay at "The Great Sand Dunes in Colorado and visit Fritz and Kristina. We are finally getting there and from this view we think the dunes are white sand but....The Dunes are covered in snow.
The campground is also covered in snow and there were no spaces our size. We checked weather reports and it was supposed to get down in the 20's at night so we headed east to lower ground.

A last look at The Dunes and we were gone.

Wolf Creek Pass - Hwy 160 4/25/07

We were headed from Durango to The Great Sand Dunes when the snow started to be closer to the road and an unexpected 10,850 ft pass became part of the drive. Going up hill wasn't too bad but the snow kept getting thicker.
The roads had been plowed but still not fun in a large rig.

Heading down hill was only 2 lane and it looked icy in spots.
Beautiful but scary.

This tunnel's sole purpose is to keep the snow from covering the road. It was icy inside. This pass did not really show on any map and the one that we used had hwy #'s where anything about the pass would have been written. We survived but don't plan on a drive like that any time soon.

Durango Fair Grounds

We parked at the fair grounds and got to hear the sound of the Train that we took 2 years ago. Tom took a bike ride and waved as the train went by. I got a great hookup and got caught up on computer stuff.

Colorado - More Great Views

I have the best view in the world to see all of this. You are only viewing what I get a good picture of. All day as we travel I enjoy these views and more.

To the right is Mesa Verde with snow on it.

Bluff, CO - The town the WINs are boycotting

Our View from the rig at Goosenecks

I think the pictures speak for themselves - We loved our stay but not too much to do here, so we moved on.
