The deck above the dock gets a revamp

Tom lowered and replaced the railings to improve our view. Before the change the rail blocked views when we were sitting. The picture below shows off the new railing the best. Next comes carpet that will cover the dock and the plywood.

The ducks swimming across the river do not show well but it is a mother with her ducklings.

This deck is important for sitting because of the shade while the sun is setting.

Cutting off the old was the hardest part.

Hail & Sunshine

We had another hail storm followed by sunshine and great weather. This hail storm was far more intense than the last one with the hail hitting the water so hard you couldn't see across the river.

The Deck gets Furnished

We brought everything out of the garage so we could finish off the deck for living.

Our Porch

Tom built the porch in two days and it looks GREAT. Below is the view of the porch building from my House boat.
Just need the steps.

Finished and amenities added.

My Houseboat

We finally had calm enough weather to launch the house boat, testing the ability to float and the motor. It did great but I was too involved to take pictures. The boat will sit by the garage as we work on it and get it ready to be in the eddy. View of the central comand for driving the boat

We moved the rig

We were getting ready to build a porch and wanted the motorhome in the perfect spot so we moved it and cleaned everything up before we put it back.

The Deck is Finished

Tom finished the wood work and all we need to do is weatherproof. Some of the last of the drilling.
We got excited and had dinner on the deck before it was finished. We ate some of the lettuce from the garden but nothing else is ready.

Enjoying the deck
View of the deck from the trailer - the awning is out.
The deck is taking shape.

Hail - Then sunshine

In the middle of working on the deck it clouded up and hailed. My jacket is hanging over the chair. It wasn't even cold enough to need a coat. As soon as it stopped it was warm enough to continue working.

Deer in our yard

We have six fruit trees that we had in little wire fences - we decided to try liquid fence to keep deer away but it rained so much it didn't work and my trees now have few leaves.

The Dam is Open

On our way to Metaline we stopped at the Box Canyon Dam. The rain has increased the water level and the dam is over half open. The water by our home is really high so more rain may mean they stop making electricity and open all the way.

The deck work continues

The rain has stopped - It isn't exactly shorts weather but no water is falling from the sky so we are back to work.
We went to town for Fri night fish feed so it is not all work and no play.

The Deck is doing Great

The stairs are in on both sides of the deck and Tom cut the wood for the railings, then the rain came - see picture below. It is beautiful when it rains especially from the view of a person who lived in Palmdale for 30 years. I love the rain!
We also have a houseboat that was ready for its test launch and the rain and wind stopped that too. Can hardly wait to show you pictures of my "House Boat".

Building our Deck

Wood was delivered and we were on our way building rapidly until the old bodies gave out. We have worked daily until it got too hot to work very long.
The view from the deck will be closer to what we see from the motorhome because of being higher.

The trailer will become more a part of our life when the deck is complete.

The table area will be at the outer edge with a great view. This is close to where we had the table last year in the dirt.

Our View

I love this view and it is as peaceful here as it looks. We actually enjoy when a boat or water skier goes by just for something different. It is Sat. morning and it looks just like the picture with no one else here. Below is the view from my seat in the rig at the computer.
