Generator is fixed

We are in Sagle, Id, just below Sand Point. Our generator has been repaired and tomorrow it will be installed while we spend the day shopping in Ponderay Walmart and killing time. I have no pictures but hope to have more tomorrow when we are back home.

The Dock

Can you tell what is new and what is missing on the dock? We have new edging and bouys but the last metal pilar on the dock fell into the river. We lost our wind flag and two 4 ft sections of metal pipe. We think this is part of when we had boat problems but not sure.

Downriver Days Parade

Sandie is driving the fire truck which says "Fire Prevention". Dawson was the company that pulled Tom C out of the mud at our place last year.

The Pipers are also in the Parade. Tom said that Jean would enjoy this because she had a Piper at her wedding. They were better than I expected

The BagPipers do Flag Ceremonies

The Pipers led us to flag ceremonies in Ione and Metaline Falls. The Family donates the flag in honor of a loved one and it is hung for one year when the flag is given back to the family. It was a really moving experience.

Lion's Club Train to Metaline

We have become active with the local Lion's Club and took the train to Metaline Falls for the Downriver Days kickoff dinner.

Saving the Trees

A Native Plant Specialist, Sandie Durand is helping me restore my shore and keep the trees from falling in the river. We have been pulling Knap Weed and other noxious weeds then planting with native plants. We are by no means finished but we are working hard to do what we can. More planting will be done this fall and next spring. Really exciting plans but lots of hard work.

Lavendar Festival

We tried to go by boat the Lavendar Festival - seen in the background as we drove away. There was no place to park the boat and go ashore so we headed back home and just after this picture was taken we hit some rocks. We now have some interesting stories of the adventure. The boat should be back from the repair shop next week.

The deck gets final touch

Tom put on the log facia to complete the deck.

Our Power Poles are Moved

The first two pictures are the, before shots of the poles, that have been in the background of many previous pictures.

The PUD (Pend Oreille Utility District) arrives and begins stripping the poles

The pole puller pulls the pole out of the ground.

The second pole gets pulled.

Both poles are down.

The pole gets placed out of the way so we can still have power. This is an amazing power company, our bills are approximately $22.00/mo with $20.00 being minimum. I have never had that low a bill in Calif. even when I am not there.

The deck gets carpet

We stained the deck last year and it didn't hold over the winter and we later found it was against the law to paint over the water so decided a long term solution was carpet. The first 2 pictures are before shots.

The workmen arrive and get to work quick

Tom looks much happier now.

Tom Gets Cranky

Tom appears to be tired of having his picture taken - Please come visit so I have new subjects. We bought him a new large chaise and it has improved his mood.

Poison Ivy

We found poison ivy by the stairs to the dock and I pulled all of it out. I tried being very careful but ended up with it all over my arms and body. I now know what I should have learned before I started pulling. I am almost healed so I can finally talk about it. I actually pulled two paper bags full of the ivy.

A great 4th - I found a setting on my new camera that is for fireworks so I gave it a try. I can't get the title box to respond so not sure what will happen.
